MISSOURI girls make a HUGE HUGE difference - aiding in those suffering from the aftermath of the Joplin Tornado
National
American Miss Associate National Director, Lani Maples and Missouri
titleholders take a moment to pose together with the trailer of items
stuffed with donations from Miss Missouri state finalists before getting
to work!
We, here at NAM, are always
filled with pride when we see National American Miss girls making a
difference and serving in the hometowns. But, this time - we are more
proud then ever!!!!
For those of you that may not be familiar with NAM,
Community Involvement is one of the REQUIRED competitions in our pageant
system, and every contestant must bring a children's book or stuffed
animal to the pageant in order to get 10% of the score. The young ladies
who win the pageant will donate all the books and bears that girls
donated to local charities of their choice and spend time volunteering
with them.
After a massive tornado hit Joplin Missouri early this
summer, National American Miss opened up the community involvement
program to our Missouri contestants, allowing them to bring items that
would be donated to tornado victims, such a water, clothes, canned
goods, etc.
Well, after Missouri pageant weekend, it took us
an entire TRAILER and a number of carloads full to transport all the
items that each of our 2011 Missouri state finalist donated....phew!
A
few of our titleholders and their family members start unloading the
National American Miss trailer, filled with donated items!
This past weekend, our new titleholders traveled to
Joplin, along with National American Miss Associate National Director,
Lani Maples and delivered a trailer full of items to donate, in hopes of
making a difference and putting a smile on those in needs faces!
Miss
Missouri Jr. Teen, Faith Jordan and Miss Missouri Princess Cover Girl,
Madison Bentley both work with their moms to fold and sort donated
clothes.
Miss Missouri Princess, Kloey Monthei and her dad use team-work those in need find what they were looking for
National American Miss was so proud to work with the
Joplin Family Worship Center and all of our girls (as well as their
family members) enjoyed delivering the items and spending the day
sorting clothes and other donated goods, as well as helping others shop
for things they were in need of (the town doesn't even have a walmart
anymore!).
The
Joplin Family Worship Center Tent, where our Miss Missouri titleholders
and their families worked to aid other affected by the Tornado
We couldn't be more proud of each of our 2011 Missouri
state finalists!! Each of you girls made a HUGE difference in a time of
need and we are so inspired by your willingness to give. Our Miss
Missouri titleholders are proud to have represented each of you and the
great state of Missouri to show that MISSOURI GIRLS DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
IN THE LIVES OF OTHERS & ARE DOING BIG, AWESOME THINGS!!!!!!!!
