UNFPA allocates 24 mln USD for 5 year development plan in Cambodia

The new representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to Cambodia, Marc Derveeuw, said Tuesday the Fund has set out the five-year strategic plan (2011-2015) in Cambodia with an estimated budget of 24 million U.S. dollars.

Marc Derveeuw unveiled the plan during presenting his credential letter as the new representative of the UNFPA to Cambodia to the Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong, minister of foreign affairs.

The plan is focused on the development of education, gender equity, reproductive health, and health sector, Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, told reporters after the meeting.


Meanwhile, Hor Namhong said Cambodia highly appreciated the activities of the Fund for its active participation in helping Cambodia towards poverty alleviation and adding that Cambodia fully supported the activities of the Fund in Cambodia.
